You did everything right. Why is it still so quiet?
Hi there,
Let me name something you might be feeling and not saying out loud.
You have done the things. You post consistently. You jumped on the format everyone swore by. You followed the advice from the people who seem to have it all figured out. And still, it is quiet. The likes trickle in. The right people do not seem to be listening. And a small voice starts to wonder if you are just not good at this.
Here is what I want you to hear. It is probably not you. It is the advice.
Most marketing tips are built for the many. They describe what works across thousands of businesses, which is only useful if you happen to be the average of thousands of businesses. You are not. You have a specific audience, a specific voice, and a specific way you like to work. A tip built for the average can quietly work against all three, and you would never catch it, because on paper you did everything right.
Short-form video is the easy example, and here is the trap. The format is not the platform. The same clip can live on TikTok, on Reels, or on Facebook, and those are very different rooms. If your buyers are 65 and up, they may happily watch a short video, just not on TikTok, where that age group barely shows up. They are far more likely to be on Facebook. Point your whole plan at TikTok anyway and you have made the right content for a room your customers never walk into. Reach was never the goal. Being seen by the right people is.
Here is the other version of your business. The one where you stopped taking advice written for someone else. Where you picked the few places your buyers actually are and showed up there, in your voice, long enough to be remembered. Where the thing that makes you special stopped being a secret your family knows and your market does not.
That business does not chase. It compounds. Awareness builds on awareness. The right people start to recognize your name. And being known for what makes you different quietly becomes the engine underneath every lead you get.
That shift is what the new piece on the blog is about. I wrote it for the version of you that is tired of doing everything right and still feeling invisible.
It is a ten-minute read, and it ends with the simplest question I ask every business owner I work with. It might be the one worth sitting with this week.
Talk soon,
Scott

P.S. If you take one line from this, take this one. The best tip for your business is the one built for your business. Everything else is just noise that happens to be popular. The full story is here.
